The Shire of Denmark Strategic Community Plan Major Review process is reaching the final stages with the release this week of the draft reviewed document Our Future 2033 Shire of Denmark Community Plan.

Available for public comment from today until 4pm, Monday 19 June, the document is accompanied by the results of the Community Scorecard and the Mini-Questionnaire community engagements.

Community members are encouraged to review the draft document and provide public comment in writing online at www.yourdenmark.wa.gov.au/lets-talk.

Alternatively, public comment submissions can be submitted via email to enquiries@denmark.wa.gov.au, via letter to PO Box 183 Denmark WA 6333 or hand delivered to the Shire of Denmark Administration Building at 953 South Coast Highway Denmark.

Denmark Shire Deputy President and Strategic Community Plan Working Group Chair Kingsley Gibson said community input at this final stage of the process was vitally important.

“We’re pleased to be able to present what we think is a concise, clear picture of our community vision, aspirations and objectives in this draft Strategic Community Plan,” Cr Gibson said.

“Throughout the engagement process so far, we have received more than 1700 community responses which is a testament to how invested our community is in our collective future.”

“This final stage of the engagement process is about checking in and confirming from our community that we’ve heard and understood the key issues and aspirations received in the feedback, and that we’ve prioritised those concerns and ideas in line with community expectations.”

Following the closure of the public comment process, the feedback will be collated and presented to Council along with the draft to assist their decision on adopting the document.

The draft Strategic Community Plan and accompanying documents are expected to be tabled for consideration by Council at a Special Council Meeting in late-June 2023.
