Youth Services

A community priority to increase focus on youth service provision and facilities was identified during the community consultation for our Strategic Community Plan Our Future 2033There are a number of youth-focused major projects underway in the Shire of Denmark. For more information about those projects and other consultations, please visit our Your Denmark engagement page.

Youth Services Information

Youth Services fall within the portfolio of our Community Development Officer who assists community members to build connections, meanwhile advocating for the development of youth focused facilities, activities, infrastructure and support services.

Every April, the Shire of Denmark celebrates Youth Week, but activities and events for youth run throughout the year through the busy Denmark Recreation Centre and Denmark Public Library programs. Information about up-coming events targeted at our youth community is available on our What’s On for Youth page.

The Shire of Denmark partners with support and outreach services, to offer assistance and a friendly ear to youth in need.

Coming soon: McLean House, formerly known as Tha House, will return to a youth-focus in 2024. Find out about what's on at McLean House.

Youth Strategy 2024

In 2024, the Shire of Denmark is commencing work on developing our very first Youth Strategy, in response to strong community feedback that it's time for us to focus on our Youth community.

We've engaged the Youth Affairs Council of WA (YACWA) to help us deliver the consultation and strategy in close collaboration with our local Youth community.

Why we are developing a Youth Strategy

The aim of the Youth Strategy is to better understand what is important to local young people and identify what we need to do to improve our offerings and services. To do this, we'll be talking with:

  • Young people aged 10-25 who live, work, study, volunteer or visit/use groups and services in the Shire
  • Parents and caregivers of young people
  • Groups and organisations (including businesses) that work with or have a connection to young people
  • Shire staff and Elected Members

Wondering how to get involved?

Please visit our Youth Voices consultation page to find out more about this important project and how it will roll out in the coming months.
