At its meeting held on 18 July 2023, Council resolved to adopt Local Planning Policy 13: Outbuildings & Water Tanks.
The Policy establishes new standards for sheds, rainwater tanks and other similar buildings, and allows proposals that meet these standards to skip the planning approval stage (note: a building permit is the next step).

The proposed draft policy updates and replaces the following existing policies:
- Town Planning Scheme Policy No. 13.4 – Outbuildings
- Town Planning Scheme Policy No. 40 – Rainwater Tanks and Greywater Re-use Systems
In accordance with the requirements of the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015 and Town Planning Scheme No. 3, public notice is hereby given of the adoption of this policy and the replacement of the above two policies.
