Lost Pets and Animal Pound

If you have lost a pet, it might be in the safe custody of our pound. The table below displays the animals currently impounded with our Rangers.

If your pet is missing and not listed below, please contact Ranger Services.

Frequently Asked Question: How do I get my pet out of the pound?

To release your pet from the pound, you must attend the Shire of Denmark Administration Office, 953 South Coast Hwy, Denmark, and pay all outstanding fees and charges which may include:

  • Impound Fees
  • Registration
  • Microchip Implant
  • Sterilisation (cats only)

Once the relevant fees have been paid, arrangements will be made for a Ranger to meet you at the pound to release your pet.

Cat Registration Information

Frequently Asked Question: Why do I need to register my cat?

It is the law under the Cat Act 2011 for all cats over six months to be registered.

The benefits of registration are:

  • Positive identification of your cat
  • Reuniting lost or injured cats with their owners
  • Investigation and resolution of cat problems

The period of registration runs from 1 November to 31 October, regardless of when the cat is registered. Current registrations can be transferred between local councils within Western Australia.

Dog Registration

Within the Shire of Denmark all dogs are required to be registered and microchipped.

Dog Registration Information

Frequently Asked Question: Why do I need to register my dog?

It is the law under the Dog Act 1976 for all dogs over three months to be registered.

The benefits of registration are:

  • Positive identification of your dog
  • Reuniting lost or injured dogs with their owners
  • Investigation and resolution of dog problems

The period of registration runs from 1 November to 31 October, regardless of when the dog is registered. Current registrations can be transferred between local councils within Western Australia.

Only two dogs are permitted to be kept at any one residence, with the exception of puppies, which may be kept until they reach the age of three months.

Residents may apply to Council to keep more than two dogs at their property. Contact Ranger Services for more information.

Stray Pets or Livestock, Barking, Dog Attacks: Make a Report

Stray pets or livestock should be reported to Ranger Services as soon as possible. Please have as much detail as possible to provide with your report when you contact Ranger Services.

To report nuisance pets or a dog attack, please complete the online form below or contact Ranger Services.

Use this form to report an issue to the Shire of Denmark. Please make sure you provide as much detail as possible in your report. Relevant officers from our team will investigate your report during business hours.
