The Shire of Denmark’s annual Community Grants program opened for applications this week, with a pool of $25,000 made available for community groups to apply for funding from.
The program is designed to provide financial assistance to not-for-profit groups to help them deliver projects which will benefit the local community.
The 2024 program continues a long tradition of community funding support provided by the Shire to a range of local groups and activities.
Last year’s recipients included DV Assist, Denmark Dance Company, Denmark Chamber of Commerce, Denmark FM, Denmark Table Tennis, Sarabande Early Music Ensemble and Denmark Community Resource Centre.
Denmark Shire President Kingsley Gibson said the community grants program complements the other avenues of Shire-funded support available to local community groups.
“Many community members may not be aware that the Shire annually invests about $1 million in support for local community groups and organisations through things like rate waivers and peppercorn leases, service agreements and other cash contributions,” Cr Gibson said.
“The community grants program is another way we can demonstrate our commitment to the vibrancy of our community through support for grassroots, community-led initiatives and projects.”
“Every year, the projects submitted for grant funding are diverse and have real potential to make an impact locally, so we look forward to seeing what our community comes up with this year.”
Eligible community groups can apply for a grant of between $201 and $10,000, with hints and tips on how to write a good application available online via the Shire’s website.
Applicants who need help with their applications are encouraged to make an appointment with the Shire of Denmark Community Development Officer to discuss their applications on 9848 0300 or enquiries@denmark.wa.gov.au
Applications close Saturday, 31 August 2024. Applicants will be notified of their success in November 2024.
