This week, nine community groups were named as recipients of 2024/25 Shire of Denmark Community Grants, following a rigorous application review process.

The approved funding represents a combined value of $25,000 and is designed to provide financial assistance to local not-for-profit groups and organisations to help them deliver projects which will benefit the local community.

Successful projects this year were:

  • Nature-based School Holiday Program (Denmark Environment Centre)
  • Youth Week 2025 (Denmark Skate Club)
  • Soccer Goals Upgrade at McLean Oval (Denmark Senior Soccer Club)
  • Tip Shop Strategic Plan (GreenSkills)
  • Great Southern Classic Car Show Event (Great Southern Classic Club)
  • Community Christmas Lunch (Denmark Community Resource Centre)
  • Establishment of a Town Team and Community Engagement Initiative in Denmark (Town Team Denmark)
  • 2025 Summer Early Music Workshop (Sarabande Early Music Ensemble)
  • Great Southern Academy of Sport Denmark Athlete Hub (Great Southern Academy of Sport)

Applications were assessed by demonstrated need and alignment with both the Shire of Denmark Strategic Community Plan and Sustainability Strategy.

Denmark Shire President Kingsley Gibson said the Shire’s Community Grants program was just one of the many ways the Shire supports community groups locally, every year.

“This financial year, we’ve pledged more than $1 million in support of community groups when we combine this grants program with our rate waivers, peppercorn leases for the use of valuable property, service agreements, community events and cash contributions,” Cr Gibson said.

“Such a substantial investment is an acknowledgement of the meaningful contributions these organisations, clubs and not-for-profits make to our local community.”

“Each year we receive a range of diverse grant applications for great ideas and initiatives and we’re excited to see what this year’s recipients deliver with this support.”

In a commitment to the transparent use of public funds, the Shire published a Community Contributions Register as part of the Annual Budget 2024/25 adoption process in August.
