Last week’s edition of the Denmark Bulletin printed a headline story about a ‘closure’ at Ocean Beach.
Though the redevelopment project at Ocean Beach has long been a topic of conversation locally, we recognise this is not the way community members and stakeholders should be informed of progress with regard to this important project.
We’d like to take this opportunity to clarify the following points:
- We will be providing formal information and project updates to all stakeholders and community throughout the project to keep you informed of progress at Ocean Beach
- The project is not yet out for tender, which means we do not have a contractor awarded to do the works. This means:
- We do not yet know what the impact of the project will be to beach access at Ocean Beach – this will be directly informed by how the contractor plans to carry out the works
- We do know there will likely be disruptions and closures during the two-year period we expect the project to go for
- Any disruptions and closures will be clearly communicated to our stakeholders and community as early as possible, when we know what they will be and how they will impact the site
- The weather and inlet levels will have an impact on the project
- We anticipate we will be going to tender in November with a hope to commence works in February, but we will be sure to provide updates as regularly as possible to keep all stakeholders and community members fully informed.
If you would like to be included on a community stakeholder list to receive direct communications about progress of the Ocean Beach project, including notifications of disruptions and closures, please subscribe to receive notifications at this link: https://www.yourdenmark.wa.gov.au/ocean-to-channel-recreation-precinct
