Exciting Second Opportunity for Community Groups

The Shire of Denmark is thrilled to announce a second round of Community Grants has opened, with a pool of additional funding available for community groups to apply for.

This ‘mini round’ comprises unspent funds from the 24/25 program and will provide financial assistance to not-for-profit groups, helping them deliver projects that will benefit and enhance our community.

Denmark Shire President Kingsley Gibson said the Community Grants program continues a long tradition of providing funding support to various local groups and activities.

"We’ve seen such a wide range of projects come through the program over the years, and it’s great to be able to show our commitment to the vibrancy of our Shire by supporting these grassroots, community-led initiatives and projects,” said Cr Gibson.

Previous recipients include Denmark Environment Centre, Denmark Skate Club Inc., Denmark Soccer Club, Great Southern Classic Car Club, Town Team Denmark, Great Southern Academy of Sport and Denmark Community Resource Centre.

"Each year, the Shire invests around $1 million to support local groups and organisations through rate waivers, peppercorn leases, service agreements, and other financial contributions.

“It’s genuinely exciting to offer an additional opportunity from this year’s unspent funds and to see what possibilities are out there to support."

Eligible community groups can apply for a grant of between $201 and $7,200, with approved projects to be delivered before 29th June 2025.

Applications open Thursday, 6th February, and close at 4pm Friday, 21st February 2025.

Applicants are expected to be notified of their success in March 2025.

Hints and tips on how to write a good application are available online via the Shire’s website, and applicants who need further help with their applications are encouraged to make an appointment with the Shire of Denmark Community Development Officer to discuss their applications on 9848 0300 or enquiries@denmark.wa.gov.au

The next Community Grants Program for the 25/26 financial year will be announced later this year.
