The tranquillity of Peaceful Bay was disturbed last week with the sounds of machinery delivering road re-sheeting projects throughout the village.
Re-sheeting will be followed up with a dust-suppression program in a month or so, to complete a well-needed refresh of road infrastructure in the sleepy village which swells into a busy hub during the peak of summer holidays.
The work represents a $70,000 investment in local road infrastructure alone, with further works in the local area also included in an investment boost in the Peaceful Bay community this financial year.
In line with strong community feedback about the need for public toilets and a fish cleaning station near the Marine Rescue building at Peaceful Bay, works are due to start next month on the installation of a brand new fish cleaning station, and discussions with potential contractors are underway for the construction of new public toilets.
The security of the Peaceful Bay water supply will also be bolstered with additional solar panels, battery power reserve system and automatic switching for the water reserve set to be installed soon.
Shire President Kingsley Gibson said the flurry of works in Peaceful Bay was the direct result of positive community engagement with locals.
“With a tight budget, we can sometimes be limited with what we can do to address every issue in each of our localities, but we’re pleased that thanks to positive dialogues with committed locals, we’ve been able to identify the top priorities for Peaceful Bay,” Cr Gibson said.
“We’ve already heard some fantastic feedback on the works completed by our Civil Works team which is great to hear.”
