The 2024 Unrestricted Burning Season is over, with the Shire of Denmark entering the Restricted Burning Period commencing today, Friday 1 November.
During the Restricted Burning Period, which extends until 15 December, residents and visitors to the Shire of Denmark cannot light an outdoor fire without a Permit to Burn. Camp and cooking fires are permitted during this time under specific conditions.
Permits to Burn are issued by local Fire Control Officers and are subject to strict conditions.
To apply for a Permit to Burn, residents must make their request at least 7 days prior to the planned date of the burn.
The shift to the Restricted Burning Period marks the approach of bushfire season, with the beginning of November kicking off with a community preparedness weekend organised by Denmark Bushfire Ready.
Community members are invited to attend any of the events throughout the third annual Bushfire Ready Weekend this weekend, 1-3 November, packed with activities and family-friendly fun designed to provide educational opportunities about bushfire preparedness.
