In a renewed commitment to transparency, the Shire of Denmark recently released a Community Contributions Register as part of the Annual Budget 2024/2025 adoption process.

The register shows the Shire of Denmark distributes $997,667 in support to community groups and organisations through rate waivers, peppercorn leases for use of valuable property, service agreements, community events and cash contributions.

Combined with the annual funding pool of $25,000 for the Shire’s Community Grants program, the Shire of Denmark is proud to re-invest more than $1 million into community-led and community-driven initiatives across the district this financial year.

Denmark Shire President Kingsley Gibson said the amount of investment might surprise some community members.

“Historically, we haven’t done a great job of letting the community know just how invested we are in the future of the groups and organisations that make this place so vibrant and connected,” Cr Gibson said.

“We’re hoping that with this new register, we can not only improve our transparency in line with community expectations, but that we can also clearly show the level of our support for our community.”

The Community Contributions Register 2024/25 is now available on the Shire’s website.
