Shire of Denmark President Ceinwen Gearon is pleased to announce that Council last night offered David King a Contract of Employment for the position of Chief Executive Officer.
The advertised role attracted a high level of interest with more than 40 applications received.
A representative selection panel, consisting of three nominated Council members and a community member, conducted and facilitated the recruitment and selection process.
Beilby Downing Teal provided professional recruitment services.
Following a rigorous assessment process, the selection panel recommendation was presented to Council behind closed doors at a Special Council Meeting yesterday.
Council voted unanimously to endorse the recommendation, deeming Mr King to be the most suitably experienced and qualified candidate.
Mr King has worked in Local Government for 11 years and comes to the role of CEO after serving in the role temporarily since March 2023, as Deputy CEO since 2021 and as Director Assets and Sustainable Development since 2019.
Shire President Ceinwen Gearon was pleased to announce that Council had decided to offer a contract of employment to Mr King.
“David King is the right CEO for this community at this time,” Dr Gearon said.
“Council has witnessed David’s commitment and leadership during his time with the Shire of Denmark and we are confident that he is just what this organisation and community needs.”
“David has a depth of knowledge, a responsive and trustworthy character and a strong connection to our community that will put him in good stead to achieve great things in his new role.”
“I am delighted to leave the Shire of Denmark and the Council in the competent hands of David King, who represents a new generation of CEO in Local Government with his dynamic and proactive leadership.”
