Survey Released for Bushfire Risk Management Plan Review

Published on Thursday, 6 March 2025 at 1:39:33 PM

Bushfires are a significant threat in the South West. Our region's unique landscape and climate make it particularly vulnerable to bushfires, which can cause extensive damage to properties and pose serious risks to lives. Being prepared for bushfires is crucial to minimise their impact and ensure the safety of our community.

The BRMP is a plan created by local governments to help reduce the impact and severity of bushfires. The BRMP is developed under the State Hazard Plan guidelines and is reviewed by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) Office of Bushfire Management.

The BRMP identifies the values of our community and the specific risks posed by bushfires. Furthermore, it also guides us in treating and mitigating these risks.

This survey is part of the review of the Shire of Denmark’s Bushfire Risk Management Plan (BRMP). We want to hear from the community to ensure the final BRMP reflects its values.

This survey aims to:

  • Understand the community's values and the specific risks that a potential bushfire poses to them, and,
  • Understand the potential short-term and long-term impacts of bushfires on employees, business owners and service providers within the Shire of Denmark.

Community member interested in providing their feedback on the BRMP can complete the survey online via our Your Denmark site, or by collecting a hard copy from, and returning the completed survey to, the Shire Administration building.

The survey is open now, and will close at 5pm on Friday 28th March.
