A widescale community survey will be released this week to kick off the community engagement process for the Mount Hallowell Reserve Management Plan review.
The survey, which opens on Wednesday 20 November, will remain open to submissions for an extensive period of time to allow for as many community submissions as possible.
Independent consultant Aurora Environmental will then combine results from the survey with information gathered from stakeholder meetings to produce a draft plan which will be presented to the community for public comment.
The engagement process will aim to identify what is important to the community about the Mt Hallowell reserve, what are the critical community concerns about the future of the reserve and how those concerns can be addressed.
“This review will be a transparent and thorough process,” Shire President Kingsley Gibson said.
“At the end of this engagement and review process, we expect the consultant to deliver a plan to us that is consistent with community expectations.”
Community members interested in the review can find background documentation, the Council-endorsed project scope and community engagement plan, along with information about how to participate in the engagement process online via the project page at: https://www.yourdenmark.wa.gov.au/mount-hallowell-management-plan-review
“Mt Hallowell Reserve is a treasured place at the heart of our community where many of us go for recreation or just to appreciate nature. In order to have a robust, community-supported plan for the sustainable future management of the reserve, we need as many people as possible to get involved in the review process,” Cr Gibson said.
The survey will be open to submissions from Wednesday 20 November to Friday 17 January and can be completed online via the link above or in hardcopy format via the submissions box at the Shire Administration Building.
