This week, a draft Concept Plan for a proposed Mountain Bike Trails Network at Turner Road was released for public comment.
The site at Turner Road (which is already heavily disturbed by gravel extraction activities) was identified as a potential alternate solution for trail building during the community consultation on proposed trails at Mt Hallowell in 2022.
Since that 2022 consultation, surveys and assessments, including Aboriginal heritage and environmental surveys, have been conducted, and a grant was secured from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries WA Trail Planning Grants Program to cover the costs of engaging a trail designer to develop the concept plan.
The detailed concept plan document, plus supporting information about the history of the project so far is now available for public review online at www.yourdenmark.wa.gov.au/trails-at-turner-road
Community members and stakeholders are invited to read the draft concept plan and provide feedback online by Friday, 26 July, or in writing via email or letter, before the concept is tabled for Council’s consideration at the August Ordinary Council Meeting.
